The fifth piece I made in my Inspire Me contest (now closed to new entries, unfortunately), where participants submit ideas/concepts which I may decide to turn into jewelry (and the three most inspiring concepts will win the jewelry pieces made). Go have a look if you haven't seen it yet! XD

This one was based on the entry by ~Atasch25 - "Ice-Princess:

She isn’t white and pure but tainted as if a little part of the light was entrapment in her; glittering, captivating in her unyielding grasp.
She seems to hug you gently and graces your skin with soft kisses and her affection is falling like snowflakes and icicles: frightful hard, one of a kind in so many ways but as if you could melt her with your touch."

So, I know I've done "moon" jewelry before, and yes, this inspiration was to be about ice, I guess. Selenite - "of Selene/the moon" - however, was by far the iciest gem I could find - although herkimer diamonds were a contender at some point. The scene I imagined, however, was the fall of snow at night, under a huge, bright moon - as though it were the moon from which the snow was falling. Next to the selenite, the moonstones look almost Hard, to me, like the icicles mentioned in the inspiration.

Anyway, this wasn't too different for me, but it was really quite fun to work in the additional beads and teardrops at the side without detracting from the whole.

So, if I decide at the end of the contest that this was one of the three most inspiring ones, I'll send it on. However, if not - I will be offering it to dA followers at a low, Low price, plus shipping (with, of course, priority given to the entrant).

Eh, also, I still have a backlog of comments to reply to here and there - particularly on the contest journal itself. Not to worry if I haven't replied to the last few participants yet - I will get to it.

a crazy month is almost going to an end and you know the feeling that when you are exhausted a cold wind, like when you are stepping outside and leaving everything behind for a sec, can wake you up and give you renewed energy? you done that and way more. Cold wind and warm fuzzy feeling all in one piece.

This Jewelry certainly does remind me of a little piece of winter come to life. Not in a expected way; I’ve seen lots of moonstone variations but this one different, or maybe I’m biased^^ and the chain is very pretty too!

In any case: it just cheered me up unbelievably and i love it!!! :love:

Awww, I'm so glad that you love it! :D

Truth be told, I'm a little uneasy about this one. I did protect the selenite, to some extent, but it's still a very fragile stone. :/ But it was just perfect for the inspiration.

i was surprised to see it for sure, mostly because working with such a stone is a pain in the ass... but honestly it feels like it belongs.

And seeing something i just had an abstract concept on come to life in your hands; it's quite a rush^^ i would like to have that piece :eager:
