So, we're having a bead sale over at the etsy store! Here! All crystal bicones and seed beads are currently going for 20% off.

And as a special treat (because you guys are all super special) I've made a (special) coupon code for just my dA and Facebook watchers: SPECIALFRIENDS10 for 10% storewide, with no minimum purchase.

hm.

So, I'm clearing out the vast majority of AMV's inventory.  Want a new inventory, will be working on that.  Anyway, reductions of as much as 80% on lots of pieces, which I've also just rephotographed.

AMV @ etsy

Plenty of Whimsies going at under 10$.  ;)

Encountered www.sociallyshared.com recently, and was fascinated - and decided to try it out.  It's really quite simple: if you see a product you like and would like to share through your social media platforms, you can grab a personalized link to share it with.  Result, if no one buys it you lose nothing, but if someone does buy it through your link, you get the predetermined commission.

Which for a piece such as the amount one would earn comes up to over $90.  Not too shabby, for sharing a link?

Anyway, I put up a storefront and have 8 pieces available for sharing at the moment.  Here is the page where you can get your links: [link]

Let me know what you think, in any case (if you want). Has anyone used anything similar before?

It's that time of the year again, I guess.  For personal update, scroll down, but otherwise, some Sales to announce:

As always, A Myriad Vice goes into sale mode, a little later this year than usual actually.  XD

Coupon Code is SEASONALGIFTS2012, for a storewide 15% off.  I'd previously had a sale period and didn't actually re-raise my prices, so there are some Awesome bargains right now, notably, the Whimsy Pendants - great stocking stuffers.

Also, it's a good time to pick up the lockets, for those interested.  ;)

[link]

On the Avera Studio Supplies end, the same Coupon Code: SEASONALGIFTS2012, also a storewide 15% off.  I swear it's not because I'm lazy.  XD

I've recently put up a Load of cabochons - notably gorgeous, full-faced flash smaller labradorites (although the larger labs are still where it's all at, for me).  Seriously, have a look:  [link]

But tons of other cabs, too - tiger iron, jaspers, azurite, mookaite, black star sapphires, rutilated quartz (clear as water!), and some others.  A fair few faceted gems, too, affordable shinies.

[link]

------------------------------------------------------------

So, a bit of a personal update.  Sorta.  I'm still working (my ass off) on getting Avera's website up, but once that's good to go, it's going to be Awesome.  The store itself will stock higher end gems than the etsy store, a fair few worthy of collections (notably my ammolites, my gorgeous ammolites!) - some of AMV's work, but significantly, the Goddess Collection works will be available there.  Speaking of which, I have a Sedna to post here...  :la:

I am also looking for interested artisans who might want to be featured by Avera (at the very least, for free in blog articles and feature galleries).  Contact me if you are one such artisan.

Wait, that wasn't very personal, I guess.  Er.  So, I'm getting married probably in February or March next year?  And, ah, I'll be flying off to Toronto in 10 days to be with the fiance for the year's end.  Will be back in mid-January, but in any case, should hopefully be able to post something every now and then.  Not sure what projects I'll get up to while I'm there.

...ho boy.  Helluva year.  A Great year.  :D

P. P. E. - which stands for something, but I'll reveal it a little later, I think.

Anyway, I was realizing the other day that I was feeling a little bored creatively, possibly part of the reason for my recent slump.  So, launching another new side project; boy do I like being busy, it seems.  o_o;;

So P. P. E. will be a popular media-based sort of jewelry/accessory project.  People were asking me to do "character" jewelry and stuff, and this will hopefully be an answer to that.

OH yeah.  Probably going to be too cute for my brain, it's going to explode I think.

In other news, a good friend of mine, Jeff, has been making a wonderful album, of dark electronic styles of music.  I asked him for a short blurb to plug him with, and here it is:

99K's ZAmeriKa follows the story of an alternate American reality... one in which George W. Bush is still President and is forced to respond to a zombie apocalypse, triggered by the Mayan end-times. Through an array of dark electronic and industrial music, listeners follow the story of a country in turmoil, beseiged and ripped to shred by the undead hordes.

The sounds that I've heard off it so far - gorgeous, even before full processing.  The George W. Bush soundbytes, hilarious.  I also adore albums with a storyline, so...

Anyway, Jeff's in the process of raising some funds for the project, and I thought I'd plug it out to other people of taste I know (in other words, all of my wonderful followers :la: ).  If you like, you can buy some perks and such at the campaign page here.

(Also, check this out - [link] Jeff's first video diary on the project, discussing progress on the album, the challenges of mixing audio properly and giving a sneak peek at a new song.)

So - if you would believe it - I finally made a group for SHINIES!  Here:  [link]

I mean gems, of course.

Ideally, it'll be a place gem nuts like myself (and some people I know; you know who you are) can go look upon the shiny, and at the same time read about people's reasons for their choice of gem, or whatever else artisans want to say about their gem, be it crystal qualities stuff or origin information or processing details...

Well, I know some people who watch my work are interested in that, too, so, I figure people might like to see more of that.  :)

Or clearance mode, in some cases.

Lockets at 30% off, and most of everything else at 40% off, excepting a few made-to-order pieces.  Some things are pretty much a steal at this time.  XD

2 August, Thursday

Okay!  I'm ready to announce the winners.

First off, thank you ALL, so much, for your participation.  I regret that I was not able to find the time to bring more of your inspirations to life as I desired.  I will hopefully, in the coming months, find some opportunities to make more of them... however this time it's just the seven.  Not terrible for a month, though, I guess.  XD

Oh, and so sorry that I haven't responded to comments much lately.  @_@

Winner:  "Geometry"

Inspired by :iconvalhallia:

This one.  Forgive the terribad photo, but, OMG, total buzz when I was making it, that buzz that fuels the innovation of a really new concept to me, with just a technique or two that I had before.  Usually my necklaces look really quite different, to me at least.  The colours were also a departure for me; it's unlikely I would have thought to use them without the inspiration and external nudge.

Winner No. 2:  "Continuum"

Inspired by :iconlatisuicune:

Rather more modest than some of the other pieces, perhaps, but the concept inspired a whole new semi-chainmaille weave for me, and I couldn't let that not win.  This was one inspiration that I could never have put down, and the fact that I worked it with a represented philosophical meaning... well.

Winner No. 3:  "Yuki"

Inspired by :iconatasch25:

I did a few of the "building on styles that I already do" for this contest, but this one was not only the largest departure, but also really quite effective - in addition to the inspiration to use the selenite, which involved significant care in the wrapping and construction to allow the fragile stone more protection.  Also, ice princess.  :3

So!  Those three will be mailed off to their respective inspiration-giver.  The remaining four pieces will be offered to dA members (with priority to the inspiration-giver) at a very low cost, as promised, plus shipping.  Any future pieces made from the inspirations given in this contest, will be offered under the same policy.

I'll note all participants soon.  Once again, thank you so much!

28 July, Saturday

Mm, should be finishing the contest three days from now.  Not sure if I'll be completing any more pieces by then... Maybe!  I've had a few attempts recently that were kinda misses, though, which is partly why no. 7 is a return to an older style.  (But the entry was inspiring to me and so was the charoite!  :la: )

Anyway, entries 5 through 7:

Contest results should be out in the first week of August.  Criteria for evaluation will be:  Innovation (in particular, if the entry inspired me to innovate, or do something new/rework something old to me) and Effectiveness (IE: how happy I am with the final product).

=============================================

23 June, Saturday

Contest is now closed to new entries!  I'll reply to the last few entries that were submitted yesterday, soon.

AWESOME, guys, absolutely smashingly awesome.

Some stuff came up in "real life" this week, so I'll extend the time I'll work on my choices among these inspirations... maybe till the 10th of July or so.  Or maybe over July, but less intensively in that case.  Anyway - I'll declare the three winners either on the 10th of July or on the 31st, depending on which date I choose to make these pieces till.

Oh, as some of you have seen already - Some pieces have been posted already.  :D

=============================================

UPDATE: 17 June

You guys are all Awesome!   to all participants so far.

Apologies for lagging with replies to recent comments, but have been actually materializing a couple of your inspirations, already.  Not sure if I'd consider these Wins, but for sure they were hugely inspiring (of the sort that... Can't... Pull... Brain... Away...), and I have tons more I am wanting to try, in my budgeted timeframe for this project.  Anyway, will reply to everyone soon.

=============================================

So, I've decided it's time for another giveaway.  :la:

I've noticed for myself, that although I'm usually at a fairly high creative mode most of the time, sometimes it just hits That Spot, you know.  I had at least 12 gift projects planned this month, and now I'm down to 3, and I want to make more gifts.  After all, I gave myself until June-end to indulge in these fun little projects.  (Not that all of them are especially little.)

Soooo, brainchild.  Been about half a year since my last giveaway, which was a far more specific, "I've made these and they're up for a draw" thing, and I got to talk to a whole bunch of my followers in the meantime.  Something which I still want to do this time, incidentally!  Here's how this giveaway will go - post here, as a comment in the journal, to indicate your participation, and include:

1. A concept or idea.  It doesn't have to be a jewellery design; I get inspired by all sorts of things, but if you want to you may of course tell me your vision of how the idea translates into jewellery.
2. Self-introduction/whatever!  I just like getting to know my watchers.    If I know you already, tell me something I don't know, or something new, or whatever you want to tell me.

Note: each deviant may submit up to TWO ideas.

I will pick up to three winners, who give me the most exciting inspirations (oh god, I'm mad, aren't I! :D ) - one will be a person I haven't known before now, one will hopefully be someone I am acquainted with (as in, at least have occasional exchanges via comments or something), and one will be an "open category" person not restricted to my knowing or otherwise.

I will not promise that what I end up making for the winners will be at all close to their vision, but it will be inspired by it, and I'll mail it off when done.  I may also end up making pieces inspired by ideas submitted other than the winning three, and I will post them on dA and link back to the wonderful inspiring person.

Sound fun?  :D  I hope it does, I'm excited.

Deadline for submission of Inspiration: 22 June 2012.  Will edit this entry when submissions are closed.

I won the contest!  :la:  Hurray!

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes!  I don'tt know if I'll have the time to respond to everyone, but they gave me the impetus to actually write an update (for... eh, the first time ever I think) for the stuff I've been up to and will be about.

Had a dinner last Saturday to celebrate.  On the actual day, had a fever - but it was good, it was effective in forcing me to rest properly for a day, at least.  XD

----------------------------------------------------

Well, birthday messages aren't the only place I've been lagging - I've some comments on recent pieces that I need to get back to, as well.  And I will.  And now for the updates:

Well, I entered for the May AC Challenge.  Wonder if I'll win, hope that I do, heh.

Was really freaking out a bit last week at the sheer amount of stuff I had to do.  I actually made a to-do list, in fact!  And minus very low-priority things, it was 36 items long, and most needed to be done in a few weeks at maximum.  I've since checked off one item, I guess, related to investor contracts.  And should be close to checking off various account/stocktaking/sales data entry items, phew.  I have a long list of purchases to make for Avera Studio Supplies @ Etsy, and many listings to make

I have a project log of 10 items to fill, that I'll get back to very soon:

Goddess: Gaea
Goddess: Freyja
Cybermania: Sapphire and topaz and peridot earcuff (for a friend)
Cybermania: Ruby and Garnet, maybe Amethyst earcuff (for another friend)
Improv. Symmetry: Lotus necklace
Dreamstones? : a facet stone pendant (for friend)
Cybermania: Necklace for darling, probably featuring a sugilite
A pair of bracelets for a pair of friends.
And the 500hr+ mystery project that I've been doing on and off, that I mentioned to some people I was working on, when I posted

----------------------------------------------------

Though, speaking of Avera, there are a number of plans in the making.  Still working on the plans to offer free promotion to artisans who want it, but the main focus currently is raising funds for an expansion - I should in a few months, be launching Avera Jewelry's private domain.  The shop there will likely have a significant focus on gems - faceted, cabs, briolettes... most of the etsy inventory (except the current cabs I guess) will be available there, too.

The tutorial course is somewhat behind schedule, just haven't found the time/energy to devote to it recently.  I'll get back to it, though... but I do need to be completely focused when I work on it.

Spending some time now and then, thinking about the early plan to invest in artisan work itself.  That is definitely still on the table, of course, but the original timeframe has evolved into something rather more multi-stage.  I realized it was rather Too risky to launch a store or exhibition for such work out of the blue, even with extensive marketing - therefore I'll be using Avera Jewelry's domain as an initial, (smaller?) online platform for that very purpose.  Hopefully in a year (or two, but I think a year might be possible, and preferable), I'll be approaching artisans with contracts to buy quantities of their work.  Still want to do the exhibitions, though, later, with more research.

Have also been acquiring some personnel for various job vacancies, which has been interesting...

----------------------------------------------------

Realized that I'll have to do taxes for the company in some months, I guess.  Oh boy, this is quite a year for learning new things that I never considered before.  Made me realize I'd let much of my mind actually atrophy in recent years.  It is terribly important to keep learning new things, new concepts outside of our comfort zone, perhaps outside our natural strengths and inclinations.  hmmm.

Finally decided to organize my gallery into... an actually sortof museum-ish type thing, where all the folders are themed or chronicled somehow.  Even wrote little anecdotal descriptions for all the folders.

The "Featured" page is pretty much just some of my favourite work from everywhere, more or less... but I have a bunch of Folders that might be of interest, especially to my newer watchers -I realized some of my old folders were rather intimidatingly over-populated; that at least is no longer the case.

Anyway, I thought I'd do a tiny bit of self-biographicking, and at the same time, introduce myself a little to my newer watchers (and older; I reckon I don't actually talk about myself and my life all that much... anywhere online, really).

Let's make a little game of it!  This entry will be a self-feature, but anyone who comments  (hopefully to ask me a question they want me to answer?) will be featured in a later journal entry.  I promise I'll write nice things about you, too.  :D

So, I'll thumbnail one deviation from each of my folders, one that has Weight with me.

Storied Pieces

Somehow, the flash fiction I wrote for the little piece remains one of the dearest ones to me.  Romantic and madsciency - that's me alright.

The Locket Obsession

Ahhh hehehe...  A lot of you know me because of these, I think.  :)  Well, everyone should have lockets!  :D

Improvised Symmetry

This was an earlier one for the style I've been doing lately, and I remember it most fondly.  It was not a Eureka moment, no, but more a YAAAAY one.

Cyberpunk Mania

Yeah, the locket one.  Go figure.  This one always reminds me of a race in my WIP novel saga.

The Goddess Collection

Hoping to fill out this section more.  I do love this piece, it was all improvised symmetry.  But Gaea, Tiamat, Brisingamen, etc, should be incredible, when I get around to finishing them... >>;;;

2011 Collection

2011, a year of experimentation!  This one was dark and oppressive, and felt like an auditory blackhole.  Hence, the name.

Milestones And Faves

A very recent piece, a commemorative piece, made for the one dearest to my heart, without whom the colour would recede from my world and my existence turn to dust.

Chainmaille

Yeah, still my favourite maille piece.  Was the fourth official design I ever did, and therefore the fourth piece of jewelry I ever officially made.

Viking Knits

Memorable not only because I've been hit on by more scammers for this piece at my etsy store than any other piece, but also because it was one of those... work obsessively for 9 days sort of pieces.  Also cost me more to make than any other piece I've ever made.  @_@

Dreamstones

I remember I was trying to demonstrate how to do these to someone, when I made this.

2012 Noteworthies

Fact: I'm totally an Amberphile.
Fiction: I can afford Amber jewelry.
Hypothesis: Maybe I can avoid buying it?
Likely Scenario: Me, drooling over Amber pieces and jewelry everywhere I go, all the same.

2011 Noteworthies

Odd but true: I might have looked forward to making this piece more than any other piece in 2011.  I wanted to ever since I started chatting with the awesome `KubusRubus and found out that he wanted one.  And then he asked me to make one and I was :la:

2010 Noteworthies

I talk about it a bit in the deviation page itself, but I suppose... it's one of the few things I ever did to remember my grandmother.

Arcaaen

2010 - My first Horcrux!  :la:

Inkings

2011's Horcrux.  :D
...sheepish admission: I enabled prints for this one so I can buy one for myself eventually.  ...still haven't collected enough points.  ;__;

Paintings

I always dreamed of seeing the lights.  I will, one day, with my beloved.

Miscellany

My first ID.  Dreadfalls a gift from my ex, who was and still is a thoroughly nice guy.  Incidentally, this photo was taken a couple days before I posted it... so, March 2010.  I realize I look very different in all my ID photos.

and lastly... Jewelry Practice

This included an attempt at making a jewelry video.  Learned a lot from that experience, which I'll be putting to good use when I work on Avera's Wire Wrapping course.

Done!  The folder anecdotes are a bit more explanatory, and I think/hope, mildly entertaining, if you want to tour my 18 folders.  @_@

Sooo, ask anything you want!  This includes business stuff, if you happen to be interested in my various businesses/occupations.

(Cross-posting from the thread at etsy forums: [link] )

I planned a large part of Avera's vision to include the support and promotion of the work of handmade jewelry artisans. My longterm projected aim is to actually host artisan jewelry fairs featuring the work of selected artists at every fair, either locally (which is Singapore) or elsewhere. To that end, I've decided that it is necessary to build some preliminary working relationships with interested artisans, especially in the coming few years.

Well, my supplying store only launched for business about 3 weeks ago, and in the part week, I have taken the first (baby) steps in the plans to promote artisan work, by simply using etsy's treasury feature. As soon as possible, however, I'll be setting up a range of networks for promotion - including but not necessarily limited to - Facebook Pages, tumblr, Pinterest, twitter. The "bridge", I'm hoping, between simply promoting artisan work and actually investing in it for Avera's shows, will be a personal site for Avera showcasing a "best of" sort of range.

Anyway, I'm posting this here, of course, in the hopes of gauging a response to these plans of mine. At the very least, all the social media promotion would be done free of charge for interested parties. There would probably be a few restrictions or requirements (such as the amount of stuff you'd like me to promote in a week or month, and photo quality issues) I suppose, but that seems logical and fair?

So, anyone interested? Also, I'm open to suggestions and ideas. :)

Yup, it's finally on its feet.  :)  There is an opening sale Coupon Code for everyone: OPENING5

Well, the vast majority of it, anyway.  In the coming days, there will be a number more listings I have to post (including listings of silver-filled wire and some unique handmade supplies).  In the coming weeks there should be an expansion, and hopefully in the coming months, the inventory will grow exponentially.

So, here it is:  [link]

Thank you all for all your support and feedback these past few months!

Incidentally, I'm working on a hopefully quite comprehensive instructive course (in many volumes) for wire work - that will be available in a full DVD including video tutorials, appendixes, guides, tips as well as practice kits.  There will also be a stripped-down version of the course available as PDF tutorials.

I'll be updating my dA journal for certain things, but if you want to get detailed updates of the inventory and sale periods, you can follow Avera's twitter @averajewellery

So... I've been working my butt blue these past several weeks, but finally - the supply store I've been planning is starting to feel ready.

I've got majority of my inventory managed now, which means, soon I'll be able to send out samples to all my dA followers who want them.

It's pretty simple:  I've compiled a list of eligible items including gemstone, crystal, seed and metal beads, various coloured copper wire, chains, cords and findings.  If you would indeed like me to send you a sample, simply select up to 20 items off the list, and contact me, either through dA or at averajewellery@gmail.com

The list: [link]

In any case... I do realize that the sample sizes don't allow for anything really useful to be made from them, but, well, it is meant to be a sample after all.  However, if you would in fact like to have more of a certain item rather than several different items, that should be possible - just contact me and we'll discuss it.  :D

Also, if you want to see pictures of any sample, I have most of them done already, so feel free to ask.

It's weird, I can apparently ship to the US from Singapore, for a fair bit less than what it costs to ship within the US.

A fair few people have asked about my shipping rates for the upcoming supply store I will be launching in hopefully a month.  I finally have a version of my shipping profiles that I think should work, and it seems reasonable indeed.

Here ya go:

Er, how to interpret this table... er, well, for example, it'll cost SGD1.2 (less than a US dollar) to ship a 5g article (excluding packaging) by normal airmail, or SGD0.1 if shipped with another item.

Also, not in the table, obviously, but, Registered Shipping will be included for free if an order amount exceeds a certain amount.

It may not be the case necessarily, but chances are shipping will take some days longer than shipping within the US.  Incidentally, heavier orders will have discounted shipping... I haven't calculated profiles for listings exceeding 200g yet.  Not even sure at the moment if I'll have many (or any) individual items heavier than that, yet, anyway.  XD

Feel free to ask any questions!

(AKA, "Sometimes I'm amazed by how my mind works when facing sleep deprivation.")

Hello again, everyone - particularly jewellery artisans here!

I fully realize that what I'm about to say is going to sound a little crazy to some folks.  In short, I have, over the past days since deciding to take the plunge and build a business to love and nurture, initially with the aim of supplying at reasonable rates jewellery-making supplies for artisans and hobbyists - come up with certain longterm plans, with targets to be met hopefully within 5 years.  And to see these come to fruition, I am willing to work 100 hours a week for as long as I still have the energy.

I'll get straight to it:  Hopefully by mid-2014, I will start negotiating contracts with interested handmade jewellery artisans.  The idea is to buy quality, exclusive, incredible wearable art - and provide these for sale in an actual, physical storefront in a high-traffic mall.

So, if anyone is interested, this is the heads-up: by mid-2014, develop a style that is unique (if you haven't already), dare to experiment, create.  Elegance is a definite In, quality of construction is absolutely essential.  Simple, or complex - I will be wanting both.  Materials may be discussed.

Most likely, at that point, I will begin to offer initial contracts for, I'm hoping, approximately 6 months worth of work to each artisan I accept.  Hopefully, I would then be able to move enough of Your incredible work, that I can offer similar contracts on a yearly basis.

Oh, I should mention, as a person who has spent two years in the handmade artisan jewellery business, I know exactly how difficult it is sometimes to even make ends meet.  I will not be out to fleece you of your work and creativity.  This is an Absolute promise, at least, within the boundaries of my financial capabilities.

Anyway!  Any queries for details (tentative as they are at the moment) should be addressed to me by Note.  Other comments may be left here.  Thank you, all!  :)

Hey all!  A very happy belated New Year's to everyone.  Hope your past week has been as exciting or otherwise pleasing as mine.

I'll get right to it - so far this year, I've been faithfully feeding the old brainchild of building a jewellery supply business, and as of right now, I'm wrestling with the fast growing monster said brainchild has grown into, just this past week.

In any case, I calculate that I Will be having said monster up and online in likely 2 months time, perhaps plus a week.

The store does not have a name yet.  What it already does have, however, are plans to supply copper wire in various enameled colours and sizes, possibly wholesale tumbled gemstones and crystals, likely a sizable selection of necklace chains and related findings, and beads, so many beads!  Oh, and probably some kits - basic colour bead kits, and also project kits.

In addition, my business plan includes my prices being Highly competitive.  Perhaps wildly so.  I'm doing a lot of product research right now.

So, naturally, since I like the people I know from dA best of all, you guys will get the best opening sale store discount, when I finally do launch.  A lot of people have been asking me where I buy my stuff, and no longer shall I buy from overpriced retailers - I shall be instead, a very reasonably-priced retailer myself.  :D

Oh, help me out, though - do tell me, either here or in my poll - [link] - what you might like to see me bring in for you.  If not immediately, I might well be able to bring it in eventually, we'll see.

I've recently gone back to look at delectable delicious knitted lace shawls again, and this time - THIS TIME - I shall learn how it's done!

Bweeeheeehee.  Exactly what I needed, another obsession.

In other news, Skyrim.  Which I suppose says pretty much everything I might need to say about my time usage right now.  I'll try to post every now and then, still, but between LACE and FUS RO DAH I might be a little absent, I realize...

A little under 4 hours left, for last minute participants!

Anyway, how the draw is going to work - I'll be using a virtual die roller - [link] - to draw two numbers from the list.  The first winner will have the choice of locket, and the second winner will get the other locket.  Not going to be doing multiple-rolls to draw the number, assuming the number stays the recalcitrantly PRIME 47 >>;;, and will be using a d100.

Will update again when it's draw time.

Good luck!

Hi all!  :D

Over the past year, it appears I have accumulated some followers here, and many of you have given me valuable feedback, inspiration and encouragement in my craft.  It has rather been to my chagrin that I for the most part, have not been able to reciprocate in any meaningful way, beyond providing discount codes for my store.

But I've recently gone on an absolute locket-making frenzy, as many of you are aware... and being someone who has always loved lockets (they are jewellery even I will remember to wear), naturally I assume my followers, who apparently enjoy my taste, must also live in want of lockets as I do.

So about 10 days ago, I posted the locket "Gale" and a poll asking about your preferences regarding the size of locket each of you would like to have (and thank you all for voting!).  Alas, I'm not feasibly capable of giving everyone who participates in this giveaway a locket, but since the vote was so close, I decided to put up two lockets for giveaway - a large and a small.

And without further rambling, here they are: and

Here comes the participating part - all you have to do to qualify is post here, on this journal entry, and introduce yourself (if we are not already well acquainted), or otherwise tell me something about yourself you'd like to share!  Of course, feel free to ask me any questions about myself as you wish, and I promise I will answer (within reason...XD ).

The draw will be done by multi-digit dice-rolling (because I have always hated the paper slips in a box method).  All participants shall be assigned a code at the end of the participation period.  Tentatively, the draw will be held on Tuesday, 13 December 2011, perhaps 9pm local time (or I think, 8am on the East Coast of the US).  If you wish to poke me or witness me churning out digits, I will be in this chatroom at the time: [link]

Sooo... hoping to read about lots of you shortly.  Don't be a stranger!  :)
